FAQ
Short answers to the questions we hear most. For more, start with Getting started.
The basics
Section titled “The basics”Which edition is it out on?
Java Edition first, on CurseForge and Modrinth. The Bedrock Edition follows on the Minecraft Marketplace. The date will be announced on the Archie Blocks channel and Discord.
Is it free?
On Java, yes. On Bedrock, no. It will be a paid Add-On on the Minecraft Marketplace.
Will it come to consoles and mobile?
Yes, with the Bedrock release. Marketplace Add-Ons run on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS, Android and Windows.
Will Bedrock and Java have the same content?
Same seven dinos, same guidebook, same progression. Some balancing differs between editions, for example a few of Archie's trades on Java unlock through mastery stamps.
Can I add it to an existing world?
Yes. Dinos show up in newly explored areas, so travel beyond the places you have already been to find them.
Does it work with other mods and Add-Ons?
Almost always. It adds new content and leaves vanilla mobs, blocks and items alone, so conflicts are rare.
Playing
Section titled “Playing”How do I install it on Java?
Install Forge or Fabric for the right Minecraft version, then drop the mod and AstemirLib into your mods folder. The steps are on the Getting started page.
How do I hatch an egg?
Place it on the kind of ground the dino lives on, like grass or moss for a Lushsaur, and wait. A Sculkraptor Egg needs a dark spot. The baby belongs to whoever placed the egg.
Why won't my dino follow me?
On Java it is probably sitting, so sneak and use it to make it stand up. If it got left behind, blow the Scorching Horn to call your tamed dinos to you.
Can I breed them?
Yes. Feed two tamed adults their favorite food to get an egg, or a baby right away for the Coralosaur. Sculkraptors and the Sculksaur cannot be bred.
What does the Sculksaur drop?
Toxin, which you need for toxin arrows, the Sculk Bow and the Sculksaur armor. On Bedrock it also drops a pile of loot when it dies.
Does it work on Realms?
On Bedrock, yes. Java Realms cannot run mods, so use your own server or a modded server host instead.
